Billing Specialist
About The Position
Ridgeview, a not-for-profit community mental health center based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is hiring a full-time Healthcare Billing Specialist for its billing team within the financial services department. The role supports timely, accurate, and HIPAA-compliant billing practices that complement the accounting function. The specialist works with clients and third-party payors to help ensure medical billing is accurate, thorough, timely, and compliant with payor guidelines, and performs collections efforts to manage accounts receivable in accordance with target balances. The schedule is weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Skills in data entry, claims submission, and follow-up.
- Two or more years of prior medical or hospital claims and billing experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and mathematical aptitude.
- A disciplined approach and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to complete work urgently and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work regularly scheduled weekday business hours.
- Background checks, motor vehicle records, license/degree verification, and drug screens are conducted at hire; employment is contingent upon a clean drug screen and background check and a safe driving record.
Responsibilities
- Perform medical billing and related activities in a behavioral healthcare environment.
- Work directly with clients and/or third-party payors to ensure billing is accurate, thorough, timely, and compliant with payor guidelines.
- Perform collections efforts to manage accounts receivable balances in accordance with target balances.
- Communicate account information to third parties with discretion and good judgment.
