The Center for Specialty Therapy Clinic provides Nutrition, Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy in addition to Psychotherapy and Mental Health assessments, specializing in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This position offers students the opportunity to learn how health information is managed across various disciplines and how technology has improved data access and management. Tasks include working with paper charts, documentation protocols/procedures, and tracking from paper inception to electronic upload. Students will gain an understanding of its role in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and the steps involved in health data management. Other tasks include exposure to the administrative side of health information tracking for eligibility/programming and how this specialized population compares to the general non-disabled community. This is an administrative role with no direct/in-person patient contact, ideal for someone looking to advance their knowledge and experience with medical information and technology, along with HIPAA and compliance laws.
