Position Summary: The HIM Assistant Manager will support the HIM Manager by overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and assisting with administrative duties. The role will directly support and supervise the HIM team to ensure efficient workflows, growth development, and monitoring success in each department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with ability to build high performing and high functioning teams.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information technologies.
  • Familiarity with medical terms, coding systems, and classification standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare professionals and team members.
  • Ensuring precision in managing and reviewing health records to maintain data integrity.
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug testing.
  • Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Health Information or health-related field of study preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
  • 1+ years prior supervisory experience in a healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in reviewing and updating HIM policies and procedures.
  • Monitors analysis of health records for accuracy, completeness and quality.
  • Monitors medical provider deficiencies and suspension process.
  • Provides input to implement efficiencies, improve workflows and processes through continuous quality improvement.
  • Serves as subject expertise for medical transcription, and medical record related matters.
  • Monitors and maintains team schedules, reviews and edits employee timecards.
  • Monitors quality assurance, productivity and accuracy by performing regular audits and provides feedback to team.
  • Assists and facilitates team weekly and monthly meetings.
  • Collaborates with vendors on service-related issues.
  • Provides or coordinates training of team members
  • Monitors workflow; capturing statistical data to track volumes and productivity of functional work area.
  • Participates in continuing education curriculum, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities.
  • Participates and attends meetings related to assigned projects.
  • Represents the department externally and internally.
  • Monitors and provides timely and relevant daily, weekly, monthly and annual statistical and financial data to management.
  • Monitors AHIMA, HIMSS, and other pertinent sites for best practice recommendations and any other issues that may impact the organization.
  • Serves as a role model for Always TRUE and the OrthoNebraska Way.
  • Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
