About The Position

Rho Nutrition is hiring a hands-on Head of Performance Video to lead its video editing department. The role manages, coaches, and develops video editors while owning the quality, workflow, and delivery of the team’s work. The Head of Performance Video also personally edits priority performance ads, turning creative briefs and direction into effective video for Rho’s Shopify DTC, Amazon, and national retail business. Reporting to the VP of Creative and Growth and working directly with the founder, this role leads day-to-day editing, provides clear feedback, resolves editorial problems, and keeps projects moving from raw footage through final delivery. The position contributes to creative strategy discussions and uses performance results to guide editorial decisions, ensuring each edit reflects its intended audience, message, and testing objective. The role oversees the editing pipeline, including footage and brief review, assignments, revisions, quality checks, stakeholder reviews, and launch handoffs. It establishes repeatable standards for project files, naming, version control, and searchable footage libraries, and coordinates with relevant teams on claims, disclosures, usage permissions, and channel specifications. Success includes stronger and more independent editors, high-quality edits that execute the brief, performance-informed iterations, faster turnaround, fewer avoidable revisions, and clear visibility into project status.

  • Strong creative judgment across authentic creator content and polished production, including an understanding of how each can earn attention and build trust.
  • Practical understanding of creative strategy and direct-response storytelling, including audience needs, problem and solution framing, product benefits, proof, and offers.
  • Strong understanding of advertising performance, including the ability to read creative reports, interpret key metrics in context, and explain how results should influence subsequent edits.
  • Clear communication and proactive ownership, including the ability to work directly with senior leaders, challenge ideas constructively, and turn feedback into action.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supplements, health, wellness, beauty, or another category requiring careful product education.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop video editors, including hiring, onboarding, regular one-to-ones, and performance development.
  • Set expectations for quality, ownership, and delivery, and give specific, constructive feedback that develops editors’ creative judgment.
  • Plan assignments around team capacity and individual strengths, set clear priorities, and arrange coverage when team members are unavailable.
  • Build a collaborative team environment where editors contribute ideas, ask questions early, and raise problems before they affect delivery.
  • Personally edit priority ads from raw footage through final delivery, including creator, expert, founder, podcast, and product content, while maintaining an editing workload alongside leadership responsibilities.
  • Shape footage into clear, persuasive stories by making editorial decisions about hooks, structure, pacing, product explanation, proof, and calls to action.
  • Preserve creators’ voices, personalities, and natural delivery, adapting the editing approach to the content and production style.
  • Use B-roll, graphics, captions, sound, and AI tools deliberately to support viewer understanding and belief in the message.
  • Review team edits before stakeholder review, provide precise notes, demonstrate solutions directly in the timeline, and partner with Design on typography, composition, and motion standards.
  • Own the editing pipeline from brief and footage review through revisions, quality checks, and delivery, ensuring editors understand direction and deliverables before work begins.
  • Flag missing footage or unclear direction early and work with Creative Strategy, Production, and Partnerships to resolve gaps.
  • Work with Creative Operations to clarify priorities, owners, deadlines, review status, and launch handoffs; consolidate feedback and resolve blockers proactively.
  • Establish repeatable standards for project files, naming, version control, and searchable footage libraries.
  • Coordinate with science, compliance, and partner teams on approved claims, disclosures, and usage permissions, and ensure final assets meet channel specifications.
  • Partner with the VP of Creative and Growth and creative strategists to understand each brief’s audience, angle, message, and test objective, and carry those choices through in the edit.
  • Contribute to creative reviews and briefing and shoot planning with ideas about openings, story structures, useful footage, and opportunities for new cuts.
  • Review ad performance with Creative Strategy and Paid Media, interpret metrics in context, and use results to inform editing decisions.
  • Turn agreed performance learnings into purposeful iterations, such as a clearer product explanation, stronger proof, a different opening, or a tighter story; help editors understand what each version is testing.
  • Share patterns from winning and underperforming edits with the team, considering spend and campaign objective and connecting attention metrics with conversion outcomes.
