About The Position

The Head of Payment Processor Integrations serves as Product’s senior payments expert and is solely accountable for Abrigo’s relationships with external payment processors and technology providers. The role directs and coordinates the strategy for establishing integrations—or reliable data exchanges when full integration is unavailable—for check, wire, ACH, and instant payments. It sets the processor integration and data exchange strategy that guides Integration Engineering, Implementations, and Partnerships, drawing on deep knowledge of financial services payment platforms and an established professional network to move processor efforts forward and provide subject matter expertise across Abrigo. The position can be based in Raleigh, NC, Austin, TX, or remotely, and reports to the Senior Director, Product Compliance. Domestic travel is 20%.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in financial services payment processing, payment technology, processor operations, or a closely related area, with practical understanding of check, wire, ACH, and instant payment processing.
  • Established professional relationships and a credible network across payment processors, financial institution technology providers, or payment processing platforms and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead external relationships and cross-functional initiatives involving technical, operational, and business teams.
  • Experience with check, wire, ACH, and instant payment data or operations, including processor applications and related file or API exchanges.
  • Experience understanding or establishing payment integrations and data exchanges, including the ability to interpret processor documentation, data formats, operating models, and constraints.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills, including the ability to build credibility with senior external contacts and translate processor discussions into clear internal actions.
  • Ability to organize multiple processor relationships and workstreams, maintain accurate records, and drive commitments to resolution.
  • Formal Product Management training or prior Product Management experience is not required; relevant payments expertise, relationship leadership, and execution experience are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with financial institutions, fintech, payment processors, core providers, digital banking providers, or item processors.
  • Familiarity with integration methods such as APIs, managed file transfer, secure file transfer, batch processing, acknowledgments, rejects, and reconciliation.
  • Experience coordinating processor onboarding, technical discovery, testing, production launch, issue escalation, or ongoing service reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Own the payment processor relationship portfolio and serve as the single accountable owner for the processor-facing integration and data exchange lifecycle across check, wire, ACH, and instant payments.
  • Build and maintain senior working relationships and a trusted network across financial institution payment processors, core and digital banking providers, item processors, and related payment platforms and applications.
  • Develop and maintain the integration and data exchange strategy, including target processor priorities, available integration paths, fallback exchange methods, internal actions, dependencies, and sequencing.
  • Organize processor engagement from initial discovery through requirements, technical coordination, testing, production readiness, and ongoing relationship management; track owners, decisions, commitments, risks, and next steps through completion.
  • Lead processor discussions to understand capabilities, constraints, roadmaps, specifications, support models, operational processes, and change notices for check, wire, ACH, and instant payment data.
  • Coordinate with Integration Engineering on feasibility, interface and file requirements, data availability, security and connectivity considerations, test access, dependencies, and technical decisions. Provide business context and processor access while leaving technical design and engineering execution with the responsible technical teams.
  • Work with Implementation to translate established processor connections and data exchange methods into repeatable customer deployment approaches and resolve processor-related implementation gaps.
  • Coordinate with Partnerships and other internal teams on processor engagement, commercial or contractual questions, risk review, and organizational dependencies, while retaining clear ownership of payment processor relationships and integration outcomes.
  • Maintain current processor documentation, including contact maps, platform and application profiles, integration status, data exchange specifications, decision history, known constraints, escalation paths, and change notifications.
  • Provide payment subject matter support beyond product-specific work, including consultation, issue investigation, internal education, and knowledge transfer for Product, Implementations, Support, Sales Engineering, and other teams.
  • Identify recurring processor and data exchange gaps, communicate their impact, and recommend actions that improve coverage, implementation readiness, product capability, and customer outcomes.
