About The Position

Charlottesville Middle School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Girls' Basketball Coach to lead and inspire student-athletes. The coach will develop a competitive and well-rounded basketball program, foster skill development and teamwork, and instill a strong work ethic. The position also promotes sportsmanship, character development, and academic success among team members.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
• Demonstrated success in developing and leading competitive basketball programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing high school basketball.
• Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes academically and athletically.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive, progressive basketball program.
• Provide skill development, strategic coaching, and position-specific training.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
• Monitor and assess individual player performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback.
• Work with players to improve their skills on and off the court.
• Implement strength and conditioning programs to prepare the team physically.
• Develop game strategies based on analysis of opponents.
• Organize and conduct regular team practices to prepare players for upcoming games.
• Encourage adaptive and strategic thinking during games.
• Serve as a positive role model and promote character development, academic success, and responsible behavior.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to players on and off the court.
• Maintain open communication with players, parents, and school administration.
• Coordinate and oversee program scheduling, budget management, and equipment procurement.
• Collaborate with coaches to support continuity and alignment across the basketball program.
