About The Position

The Head Coach is a full-time leadership and development role within West Coast Fitness and an extension of the Studio Leadership Team. The role oversees coaches at the designated home studio, with a focus on developing the coaching team and growing the studio’s culture and community. The Head Coach helps maintain a positive, high-energy, safe, respectful, and professional studio environment and supports consistent coaching and customer service standards. The position includes coaching at least 14 Orangetheory classes per week, supporting class scheduling and staffing, onboarding new coaches, assessing performance, and mentoring coaches. The Head Coach also supports studio operations, compliance, payroll, and community events. This is an hourly, non-exempt role with monthly performance bonus opportunities. The position is based on-site in Cupertino, with travel when necessary.

Requirements

Successful completion of the OTFit Certification.
Hold and maintain a current fitness certification from an Orangetheory-approved education company: ACE, NASM, AFAA, NSCA, or ACSM.
Hold a current AED/CPR certificate.
Complete 10 or more hours per year of continuing education units outside the OTF curriculum.
Have a concrete understanding of West Coast Fitness’s mission, vision, values, and internal culture.
Know performance review metrics and guidelines.
Have an advanced understanding of anatomy and training biomechanics.
Have working knowledge of MindBody Online.
Be well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Have strong organizational and leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, communication and interpersonal abilities, and a strong focus on customer service.
Meet the physical demands of regularly using hands to signal, handle, or feel; occasionally lifting or moving up to 80 pounds; standing throughout workouts; and demonstrating exercises using fitness equipment.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of experience as a leader in the fitness industry.
At least 6 months of experience as an Orangetheory Fitness Coach.
Bachelor’s degree in an Exercise Science-related field.

Responsibilities

Coach a minimum of 14 Orangetheory classes per week.
Use discretionary judgment to ensure Orangetheory brand standards are followed and communicated with the Regional Fitness Manager.
Create and promote a fun, safe, and collaborative working environment for staff.
Work with the Regional Team and Director to optimize class schedule offerings.
Coordinate schedule updates with the management team, including class substitutions, and support fitness staffing with the Regional Fitness Manager.
Submit a weekly schedule outlining work hours and activities to support studio goals.
Attend weekly meetings with the studio management team.
Conduct quarterly performance reviews of fitness coaches and provide weekly mentoring for improvement.
Maintain, update, and submit the Coach Roadmap Tracker by deadlines.
Assist with studio compliance audits, including auditing studio operations as needed.
Track and submit payroll for the coaching team.
Attend and help plan at least one community event per month per studio, ensuring Fitness has a presence.
Attend quarterly Regional Fitness Workshops.
Uphold studio cleanliness and culture standards.
Engage with and monitor internal company communication via Slack.
