About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role supports a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment by providing guidance and assistance to cashiers and courtesy clerks, responding to customer needs, and helping maintain store cleanliness, safety, and efficient front-end operations.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have 1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude, and interact with customers as a role model.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and constructive criticism and participate in a team environment.
Be able to perform repetitive activities and multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 30 lbs. horizontally and vertically from 36 inches to 24 inches, over a distance of up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally with a force of up to 35 lbs., over a distance of up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, mathematical skills, reading, writing, and counting.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of cashiers and assist with operational issues.
Visit registers proactively to ensure excellent customer service and provide direction and support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks.
Assist with customer service issues at the register.
Assign store sweeps and monitor and maintain cash register supply levels.
Maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention.
Schedule and oversee meal and rest breaks in accordance with company policy and state requirements.
Assist with hiring and training new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
