About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role focuses on providing exemplary customer service, supporting cashiers and courtesy clerks, and maintaining store operations in a fast-paced retail environment. The Head Cashier also helps hire and train cashiers and may take necessary disciplinary steps. The position requires a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have 1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude, and interact with customers as a role model.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Have good communication skills, the ability to take direction and constructive criticism, and the ability to participate in a team environment.
Be able to perform repetitive activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Be able to lift and carry product weighing up to 30 pounds horizontally or vertically, from 36 inches to 24 inches, for a distance of up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to move grocery carts horizontally with both hands, requiring force up to 35 pounds, for a distance of up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills; be able to read, write, and count.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of cashiers and assist with operational issues.
Visit registers proactively to ensure excellent customer service and provide direction and support to cashiers and courtesy clerks.
Assist with customer service issues at the register.
Assign store sweeps, monitor and maintain cash register supply levels, and maintain restroom and parking lot cleanliness standards.
Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention.
Schedule and oversee meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
Assist in hiring and training new cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
