About The Position
The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, coaching and supporting Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks, and maintaining store standards and security. The position also supports hiring, training, and disciplinary processes for Cashiers.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Have 1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
- Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrate outgoing and friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers as a role model.
- Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
- Have good communication skills, the ability to take direction and constructive criticism, and the ability to participate in a team environment.
- Be able to perform repetitive activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
- Be able to lift or carry product horizontally or vertically, weighing up to 30 lbs., from 36 inches to 24 inches, for a distance up to 3 feet for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
- Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force up to 35 lbs., for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 50 hours.
- Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills, and be able to read, write, and count.
Responsibilities
- Visit registers proactively to ensure excellent customer service and provide direction and support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks.
- Assist with customer service issues at the register.
- Assign store sweeps, monitor and maintain cash register supply levels, and maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
- Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention issues.
- Schedule and oversee appropriate meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
- Assist in hiring and training new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
