About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role focuses on providing excellent customer service, supporting cashiers and courtesy clerks, and maintaining front-end operations and store standards in a fast-paced grocery environment. The Head Cashier also supports hiring, training, and disciplinary processes for cashiers, and ensures meal and rest breaks are scheduled and carried out in accordance with company policy and state requirements. The position requires a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and physical ability to handle products and move grocery carts as described in the requirements. The listed pay range is $19.20–$25.90 per hour. Sprouts says pay is determined based on an applicant’s applicable experience and qualifications. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have 1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrate outgoing and friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers as a role model.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Have good communication skills, the ability to take direction and constructive criticism, and the ability to participate in a team environment.
Be able to perform repetitive activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Lift and carry products horizontally or vertically weighing up to 30 pounds, from 36 inches to 24 inches, for up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force of up to 35 pounds, for up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills; be able to read, write, and count.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of cashiers and assist with operational issues.
Visit registers proactively and provide direction and support to cashiers and courtesy clerks to ensure excellent customer service.
Assist with potential customer assistance issues at the register.
Assign store sweeps; monitor and maintain cash register supply levels; and maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss-prevention issues.
Schedule and oversee appropriate meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
Assist in hiring and training new cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
