About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role supports an exemplary customer experience in a fast-paced grocery retail environment by providing guidance to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks, resolving customer issues at registers, and overseeing front-end operations. The position also helps ensure store cleanliness, security, appropriate breaks, and the hiring, training, and discipline of cashiers.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Outgoing and friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers and serve as a role model in behavior.
Ability to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Good communication skills; ability to take direction and constructive criticism and participate in a team environment.
Ability to perform repetitive activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Ability to lift or carry products weighing up to 30 lbs. between heights of 36 and 24 inches for a distance of up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Ability to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring force up to 35 lbs. for a distance of up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
Strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and count.

Responsibilities

Visit registers proactively and provide direction and support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks to ensure excellent customer service.
Assist with customer assistance issues at the register.
Assign store sweeps, monitor and maintain cash register supply levels, and maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention issues.
Schedule and oversee proper execution of meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
Assist in hiring and training new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
