The Hallmark Merchandiser works independently in assigned retail stores to restock, organize, and monitor Hallmark products, maintain displays and inventory, and build professional relationships with store teams. The role uses a Hallmark-provided mobile device for merchandising activities, time reporting, communication, feedback, and surveys. Merchandisers may also assist other team members in their territories and, on occasion, work with products from other companies in the stores they service. The position includes day-to-day service in retail departments, additional work around seasonal holidays, and occasional department resets or installations. Holiday periods may require additional days and extended hours; work on certain holidays may be required. Reset and remodel assignments may involve building or installing fixtures, relocating products or card departments, and resetting card sections. The schedule is variable during the work week and averages 12–13 hours per week. This is a physically demanding role on retail selling floors and in back stockrooms. Merchandisers must frequently push, pull, lift, and carry items up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, as well as kneel, squat, walk, and stand throughout the workday. Climbing stairs and step ladders may also be required.
