About The Position

The Guest Experience Tour Guide helps shape visitors’ first impressions of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The role includes assisting guests with admissions and purchases at the Front Gate, providing attentive customer service, and keeping admissions areas and vehicles clean and organized. The guide also operates Safari Tour vehicles and leads Safari and specialty tours, educating groups of up to 20 guests about Fossil Rim, the animals in its care, and the center’s mission. The position also involves processing sales through point-of-sale systems, following cash-handling procedures, staying current on products, pricing, events, animal information, attractions, and basic operations, and following safety policies. Guides perform opening and closing procedures for the Front Gate and admission areas. The schedule is part-time, up to 29 hours per week, with at least three working days per week and at least one weekend shift; weekend and holiday availability is required.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Demonstrated ability to provide professional, friendly, and helpful customer service to guests and staff.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong customer-service qualities, including a cheerful disposition, courtesy, patience, and perseverance.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Ability to answer guest questions accurately and communicate animal and park information effectively.
Knowledge of environmental and conservation concepts, or willingness to learn.
Availability for a minimum of three working days per week, including at least one weekend shift, and availability to work weekends and holidays.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work outdoors for several hours in extreme heat, extreme cold, and wet conditions.

Nice To Haves

Prior knowledge of natural sciences is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Provide professional, helpful, efficient service to guests in person and over the phone.
Process sales accurately using point-of-sale systems and follow cash-handling and cash-control procedures.
Stay informed about Fossil Rim products, pricing policies, special events, animal information, attractions, and basic operations.
Learn and enforce Fossil Rim safety policies.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in admissions-related vehicles and areas.
Operate tour vehicles for Safari Tours.
Lead tours for groups of up to 20 guests, sharing information about Fossil Rim, its animals, and its mission.
Represent Fossil Rim professionally and provide exceptional guest service.
Perform opening and closing procedures for the Front Gate and admission areas.
