About The Position

The Group Leader supports the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington’s before- and after-school programs at the YMCA at Calomiris. Working with the Site Director, the Group Leader assists with daily program operations and plans and delivers engaging activities aligned with the YMCA School Age Curriculum. The role helps create a safe, welcoming environment where children can develop creativity, teamwork, and learning. The schedule is part-time during the school year, Monday through Friday, with before-care hours from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and/or after-care hours from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Compensation is $18.40–$20.00 per hour.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) within 18 months of employment.
CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
Documentation of a physical exam and TB test.
Ability to pass required background screenings.
Positive, creative attitude and ability to relate to children, families, and school staff.

Responsibilities

Assist with oversight of daily program activities and communication with families.
Support and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans.
Establish structure, routines, and behavior expectations for children.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, including following emergency procedures.
Communicate routinely and professionally with parents and families.
Participate in events and family engagement activities throughout the year.
