About The Position
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring a Senior Group Leader for its school-age program at the YMCA at Sterling in Loudoun County. The role focuses on creating a positive environment for early learners while supporting and guiding other staff. The position is part-time during the school year, with afternoon/evening hours noted and before-care and/or after-care schedules available Monday through Friday. Compensation is $15.50 per hour.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working with children ages 3–6 in a licensed or educational setting.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
Nice To Haves
- CDA or early childhood coursework is strongly preferred.
- Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise engaging activities for students ages 3–10.
- Design developmentally appropriate lesson plans and routines.
- Provide mentorship and support to Group Leaders.
- Communicate clearly with families and site leadership.
- Monitor safety, attendance, and behavior.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children.
