About The Position

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring a Group Leader for its School Age Child Care program at the YMCA at Middleburg. This part-time, school-year role supports children in a collaborative afterschool environment and offers an opportunity to positively impact their lives. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with before-care hours from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and/or after-care hours from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Compensation is $15 per hour.

Requirements

Experience working with elementary- to middle-school-aged children in a school or childcare setting.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

Relevant coursework or degree.
Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
Maintain communication with families and program staff.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
