About The Position

Areté Education is hiring a part-time Group Leader for its COMPASS after-school and summer program at P.S. 065 Mother Hale Academy in the Bronx. The role supports elementary-school students and families on-site by helping maintain a safe, orderly, caring environment during program arrival, dismissal, and activities. The position is grant-funded and subject to budget considerations. The start date is subject to PETS clearance. The expected school-year schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for approximately 20 hours per week. Summer and holiday programming may run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., for up to 40 hours per week. Evenings and weekends may also be needed. The listed pay is $20 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Complete required 8-hour online Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, and Foundations in Health and Safety training.
Obtain Department of Education PETS background clearance.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Ability to traverse the classroom and bend or lean to adjust tone and height in support of program activities.
Ability to work the stated schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

Prior internship or work experience with Areté Education.
College degree.

Responsibilities

Attend assigned weekly shifts regularly and arrive on time.
Lead orderly, safe, and caring arrival and dismissal procedures.
Support teachers, administrators, and other school staff in creating a safe and caring learning environment for students and families entering the building.
Support school staff in establishing safe hallways.
Maintain a positive and caring presence with students and families.
Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
Participate in professional learning opportunities provided by Areté.
Reflect on strengths and areas for growth to improve individual and team performance.
Communicate with families in a friendly and open manner.
Communicate regularly with supervisors and Areté headquarters staff by email and phone.
Remain flexible with weekly scheduling.
