About The Position

The seasonal Groundskeeper Assistant Internship will assist with grounds maintenance at Atlanta United’s 33-acre Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground. The complex includes four natural-grass pitches—two Tifway 419 and two Northbridge bermudagrass—and two synthetic FieldTurf pitches. The role also assists with the upkeep of the broader complex and, when necessary, projects outside grounds duties such as facility maintenance and repairs.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a turf program or related field.
• Work experience in sports field management.
• Valid credentials needed to perform job duties, including a valid driver’s license.
• Availability to be on-call and work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as deemed necessary by Atlanta United.
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to operate standard grounds equipment.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision when needed.
• Desire to learn the sports turf industry.

Responsibilities

• Mow fields, edge, and weed-eat surrounding landscape.
• Apply fertilizer and pesticides to fields and landscape.
• Paint and set up fields for practices.
• Aerate, top-dress, and verti-cut fields.
• Maintain and operate the irrigation system for the entire complex.
• Maintain the synthetic turf practice field.
• Assist with upkeep of the 33-acre complex in addition to the fields.
• Service and repair turf equipment and hand tools.
• Assist with projects outside grounds duties when necessary, including facility maintenance and repairs.
