About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point to a career in construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid and reports to the Foreman. The role supports construction, maintenance, and repair of de-energized powerlines, prioritizing safety. Work involves outdoor utility construction sites and may require travel, out-of-state assignments, emergency response, and work outside normal business hours.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 60 days.
Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work for extended periods at different job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Ability to communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

Assist with new construction, maintenance, and repair of de-energized powerlines while prioritizing safety.
Help install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Perform physical labor, including lifting and handling tools and equipment.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow safety protocols and understand when to wear PPE.
Work outages, storms, and emergencies, including participating in an on-call rotation.
