About The Position

The Groundman position is an entry point to a career in construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid. The employee assists a team with building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman. The work involves outdoor job sites in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions, rigorous physical labor, and possible extended or out-of-state assignments. The employee may be called to work outages, storms, emergencies, and outside normal business hours.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
Able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Able to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Able to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, handling objects, operating tools or controls, and reaching.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction and maintain and repair overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE, understand insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential, inspect rubber goods and PPE, and understand when PPE must be worn.
Communicate by speaking, listening, and using hand signals.
Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, wet conditions, and storms.
Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
