About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point to a career in construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid and reports to the Foreman. The role supports construction, maintenance, and repair of de-energized power lines, including overhead transmission lines and related equipment. It involves rigorous physical labor, outdoor work in varying and sometimes extreme weather, and maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools. The Groundman must follow safety protocols, inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment, and be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work for extended periods at different job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Ability to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate.
• Ability to stand and walk frequently, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of de-energized power lines while prioritizing safety.
• Help install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
• Perform physical labor, including regularly lifting heavy tools and equipment.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations.
• Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow safety protocols and understand when to wear PPE.
