About The Position

Assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with operating the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel and handling ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising. Helps plan, organize, and direct the department’s day-to-day operations and implements company and division merchandising policies or Store Director instructions. In the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person, directs and controls the operation of the entire store. The role promotes company customer-service programs and personalized service, handles customer relations and complaints, controls shrink, prevents the sale of out-of-code products, and ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and other company policies. The position may open and close the store or act as a backup cashier. It is safety-sensitive, with duties that could affect the safety or health of the employee or others.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods; reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 pounds; and possibly climb ladders.
Ability to properly stack and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately.
Ability to work at different times of day with little or no supervision, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to use cleaning supplies and chemicals and safety cutters as needed.
Must comply with Company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress code.

Responsibilities

Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals.
Handle customer relations positively, including effectively resolving customer complaints, and promote Albertson’s philosophy of personalized service.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing, and directing day-to-day Grocery Department operations.
Assist in implementing Company and Division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies, and initiate corrective action as needed.
Open and close the store.
May act as a backup cashier.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Perform all job duties accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
Perform other necessary and required duties and responsibilities as assigned.
