About The Position

The Grocery Fourth Person assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with operating the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel and handling ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising. This role helps plan, organize, and direct daily department operations, supports company merchandising policies, controls shrink, and prevents the sale of out-of-code products. In the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person, the Grocery Fourth Person directs and controls the operation of the entire store. The role promotes customer service and resolves customer complaints positively, while ensuring compliance with company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies. Duties also include opening and closing the store, potentially providing cashier backup, and using suggestive selling techniques. The position is safety-sensitive and requires accuracy, honesty, and integrity.

Requirements

Ability to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 pounds; may need to climb ladders.
Ability to stack properly and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately.
Ability to work at different times of day with little or no supervision, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to use cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters as needed.
Compliance with company attendance, grooming, dress code, and other policies.

Responsibilities

Champion company and division customer service programs and meet or exceed customer service goals.
Handle customer relations positively, including resolving complaints, and promote personalized service.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing, and directing daily Grocery Department operations.
Help implement company and division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies, initiating corrective action as needed.
Open and close the store and provide cashier backup when needed.
Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Direct and control the entire store in the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person.
Perform job duties accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
Perform other necessary and assigned duties.
