About The Position

The Grocery/Dept Leader directs and supervises department functions and day-to-day grocery operations. The role focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting the company’s Customer 1st strategy. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Any management experience.

Responsibilities

Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines, maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud; notify management about customer or employee accidents.
Train department associates on inventory, stocking, and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO).
Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
Assist store management with department budgets and profit-and-loss reviews, and take appropriate action based on financial reports.
Monitor and control department expenses.
Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Implement the department’s period promotional plan.
Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
Understand the store layout and locate products.
Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to customer questions and make product suggestions.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Train and develop associates in their jobs and participate in performance appraisals.
Develop schedules that manage customer volume throughout operating hours.
Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals.
Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Act honestly and with integrity when handling customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
