Grocery OVERNIGHT Clerk
About The Position
The Grocery Overnight Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitoring quality assurance standards. The clerk supports the Customer 1st strategy, encourages excellent customer service, and demonstrates the company's values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position involves answering customers' questions, recommending grocery products, keeping merchandise fresh and properly stocked, monitoring food safety and equipment, and reporting discrepancies, safety issues, and incidents. The clerk must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
- Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Maintain knowledge of department products and answer questions or make suggestions about them.
- Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of grocery specials.
- Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise, and provide customers with fresh products they ordered.
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
- Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager when repairs are needed.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
