About The Position

The Greeter & Ticket Scanning Host at Newport Aquarium is responsible for providing excellent guest service, adhering to company values and standards, and ensuring a safe and efficient operation. This role involves approaching guests in a friendly manner, offering assistance, providing information about the aquarium, and managing timed entry tickets. The host must maintain a positive attitude, be punctual, and follow all safety protocols. They will also work collaboratively with team members and stay knowledgeable about aquarium activities, aquatic life, and special events. Key attributes for this role include self-motivation, discipline, reliability, and strong customer service skills. The host will guide guests without tickets to the ticketing window and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check
  • Physical strength, including the ability to lift/push/pull/move up to 25 pounds (Crowd control stanchions)
  • Outdoor duties dependent on weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Perform and adhere to Herschend Enterprises’ Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Approach guests in a friendly manner to offer assistance and provide information regarding Newport Aquarium.
  • Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts, and in accordance with aquarium uniform and appearance standards.
  • Keep safety as a number one priority at all times while working at Newport Aquarium.
  • Understand policies and procedures relating to the overall functions of the Guest Service department.
  • Work with other team members/departments of Newport Aquarium to ensure effective communication is implemented at all times.
  • Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
  • Be self-motivated to work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable.
  • Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations at all times, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ensure all visitors enter at scheduled date/time (Timed entry tickets).
  • Guide guests without tickets to ticketing window.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Service Management Team.
