About The Position

Bartlett is hiring a Grain Elevator Operator in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This hands-on role involves receiving, storing, handling, drying, blending, and loading grain; monitoring stored grain conditions; and maintaining and cleaning facilities and equipment to help provide a safe environment for team members. Operators are cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks. The role handles bulk commodities such as wheat, corn, and soybeans, and uses various grain-handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs. The position is scheduled for 1st shift, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed, including weekends. Compensation starts at $21.00 per hour. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate. The role can be physically strenuous and involves confined spaces, heights, ladders, and frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Reliable transportation.
For safety reasons, ability to read, write, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English.
Availability to work overtime and weekends.
Professional demeanor, including safety consciousness, quality job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communication.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and at heights.
Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

Receive, store, handle, dry, blend, and load grain.
Monitor the condition of stored grain.
Maintain and clean grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment for team members.
Cross-train to perform a variety of tasks.
