About The Position

The Grain Elevator Operator performs hands-on work receiving, storing, handling, drying, blending, and loading grain, including wheat, corn, soybeans, and other bulk commodities. The role includes monitoring stored grain conditions and maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment for the operator and fellow Team Members. Operators are cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks.

The position is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and pays $21.00 per hour and up. The regular schedule is first shift, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed, including weekends. Equipment used includes various grain-handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.
• For safety reasons, ability to read, write, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English.
• Availability to work overtime and weekends.
• Professional demeanor, including safety consciousness, quality job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communication.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

• Receive, store, handle, dry, blend, and load grain.
• Monitor the condition of stored grain.
• Maintain and clean grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment.
• Cross-train and perform a variety of tasks.
