About The Position

The Graduate Academic Advisor advises graduate students across a variety of disciplines on academic programs, curriculum, and college and university policies and procedures. The advisor serves as each assigned student’s single point of contact from enrollment through graduation, supporting academic success and student retention. Support is provided individually and in groups by phone, through appointments, or at off-site meetings. The advisor also helps students access available wraparound support and assists them through academic and personal challenges.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
At least one year of experience in academic advising, counseling, or another student support role, ideally in a higher education setting.
Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Master’s degree.
Experience in academic advising, counseling, or student support in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities

Provide single-point-of-contact advising to an assigned group of students from admission through graduation, with a focus on retention.
Help students access available wraparound supports and navigate academic and personal challenges.
Communicate curriculum and graduation requirements, as well as program, college, and university academic policies and procedures.
Provide general university information students need to succeed and actively participate in campus events and engagement.
Build collaborative relationships with academic program faculty, Department Chairs, and staff to support a cohesive student experience.
Participate in department and college meetings as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely student records.
Perform and interpret degree audits and ensure student registrations are processed in a timely manner each term.
