About The Position

The Graduate Academic Advisor advises graduate students across a variety of disciplines on academic programs, curriculum, and college and university academic policies and procedures. The advisor serves as each assigned student's single point of contact from enrollment through graduation, supporting academic success and retention. Advising may take place individually or in groups by phone, appointment, or off-site meeting. The role also supports students in accessing available wraparound resources and participates in campus events and engagement.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
At least one year of experience in academic advising, counseling, or another student support role.
Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree preferred.
Experience in academic advising, counseling, or student support in a higher education setting is ideal.

Responsibilities

Provide single-point-of-contact advising to an assigned group of students from admission through graduation, with a focus on retention.
Help students access available wraparound supports as they encounter academic or personal challenges.
Communicate curriculum, graduation requirements, and program, college, and university academic policies and procedures.
Provide general university information students need to succeed and participate in campus events and engagement.
Build collaborative relationships with academic program faculty, department chairs, and staff to support a cohesive student experience.
Participate in department and college meetings as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely student records.
Perform and interpret degree audits.
Ensure student registrations are processed in a timely manner each term.
