About The Position

The Grade Technician performs heavy physical duties on construction crews, handling tasks that are generally unskilled or semi-skilled. Specific duties vary according to the crew and assigned work. A laborer may specialize within a crew in roles such as Top Person or Pipe Layer. The position supports construction activities through manual labor, material handling, tool and work-area cleanup, concrete and asphalt work, pipe assembly and installation, and assistance with grading and equipment operations. The hourly pay range is $23.00–$25.00, based on experience.

Requirements

One to two years of experience on construction sites.
GED/high school diploma or related work experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to work well independently or within a team.
Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure.
Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform heavy physical duties.

Trade school experience.

Responsibilities

Dig, spread, and shove dirt and gravel using a pick and/or shovel.
Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies.
Clean tools, materials, and work areas.
Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
Perform manual construction tasks, including pipe assembly, pipe cutting and laying, and removing forms from set concrete.
Take layout shots and direct equipment operators on cuts and fills.
Perform other crew duties as assigned, which may include specializing as a Top Person or Pipe Layer.
