Grade Checker
About The Position
Alta Services (dba Alta Contracting) is a full-service demolition contractor providing commercial and industrial demolition services, with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. The Grade Checker uses surveying equipment to check and maintain accurate grades at demolition sites and works with the project team to meet grade requirements throughout each project. The role also involves inspecting installed pipes for quality and integrity, addressing discrepancies, following safety protocols, and coordinating with project managers, supervisors, and team members. This is a full-time position requiring physical work, including constant walking and standing and lifting debris weighing more than 50 pounds. Work may take place in various weather conditions, and the employee must be open to working days, nights, and weekends if needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Grade Checker in the demolition or construction industry.
- Familiarity with surveying equipment and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to constantly walk and stand and lift more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Openness to working with others and to working days, nights, and weekends if needed.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Use surveying equipment to check and maintain accurate grades on demolition sites.
- Work with the project team to ensure grade requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality and integrity of installed pipes.
- Identify and address issues or discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines and participate in safety meetings and training as required.
- Communicate with project managers, supervisors, and team members to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and challenges.
