About The Position

This is an extra duty position for a Grade 5 Boys Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and community, demonstrating professional growth, completing records accurately, demonstrating proficiency in English, accepting responsibilities beyond the team setting, assuming responsibility for care of materials and facilities, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. It also includes fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships, demonstrating enthusiasm for coaching and learning, promoting self-direction and self-motivation in students, and creating clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance. The coach must exhibit comprehensive knowledge of basketball, adapt instruction to student needs, develop and sustain an organized athletic program, and utilize appropriate coaching techniques.

  • Clearly convey fundamental coaching expectations to student athletes and explain their significance for personal, athletic, and academic growth.
  • Utilize appropriate and varied coaching techniques and learning activities.
  • Maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate persons.
