About The Position
This is an extra duty position for a Grade 5 Girls Basketball Coach at Cynthia Heights Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and the community, demonstrating professional growth, completing records and reports accurately, demonstrating proficiency in English, accepting responsibilities beyond the team setting, assuming responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Instructional responsibilities include fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships with the school and community, demonstrating enthusiasm for coaching and learning, promoting self-direction and self-motivation in students, and creating clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance. Subject matter expertise includes comprehensive knowledge of the sport, adapting instruction to student needs, and effectively planning and organizing the athletic program with a diverse range of strategies and resources. Coaching techniques should clearly convey fundamental expectations and their significance, utilize varied techniques, and maintain a system for monitoring student progress.

- Clearly convey fundamental coaching expectations to student athletes and explain their significance for personal, athletic, and academic growth.
- Utilize appropriate and varied coaching techniques and learning activities.
- Maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate persons.
