About The Position

This position is for an Extra Duty Grade 6 Girls Basketball Coach at Perry Heights Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and community representatives, demonstrating professional growth, completing records and reports accurately and timely, demonstrating proficiency in English, fulfilling responsibilities beyond the team setting, assuming responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Instructional responsibilities include fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships with the school and community, demonstrating enthusiasm for coaching and learning, promoting self-direction and self-motivation in students, and creating clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance. Subject matter responsibilities include exhibiting comprehensive knowledge of the sport, ensuring effective instruction, and adapting instruction to student needs. Planning and materials responsibilities involve developing and sustaining an organized athletic program with long-term planning, and demonstrating effective planning and organization with diverse strategies and resources. Techniques and delivery responsibilities include clearly conveying fundamental coaching expectations, explaining their significance, utilizing appropriate and varied coaching techniques, and maintaining an effective system for monitoring student progress.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience preferred.
