About The Position

The Global Patient Engagement Director (US) leads the development and execution of ViiV Healthcare’s patient engagement strategy across the US. The role ensures that the voices, experiences and priorities of people living with HIV, communities disproportionately affected by HIV, and people who may benefit from HIV prevention are integrated into business decision-making. It connects ViiV’s global patient engagement strategy with regional execution, adapting global priorities to local market contexts and sharing regional patient, community and healthcare system insights to inform global strategy and capability building. The Director generates, translates and embeds patient and community insights throughout the medicine lifecycle, from clinical development and evidence generation through access, uptake and long-term outcomes. Working with patients, community organisations, advocacy leaders, healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders, the role drives an insight-to-action approach that supports patient-centred innovation and ViiV’s mission. It partners particularly closely with US External Affairs and R&D, and collaborates across Medical, Commercial, Market Access and Government Affairs. The role champions meaningful engagement, trusted community partnerships and organisational capability in patient-centricity, while demonstrating the impact of engagement on business, healthcare and community outcomes. It reports to the Head of Patient Engagement in the Communications and Government Affairs (CGA) Division and provides matrix leadership across regional and local cross-functional teams. The position is based in Durham, North Carolina, and follows a hybrid model requiring at least two onsite days per week. The successful candidate must be located in the Durham area; relocation support is unavailable.
