About The Position

ViiV Healthcare is hiring a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific professional covering South Chicago and Indiana. The role’s key objective is to advance clinical practice in the assigned territory and improve patient outcomes. The MSL serves as a scientific expert in HIV treatment and prevention, understands territory and market influences, engages scientifically with healthcare providers and medical experts, manages and develops the territory, and executes activities aligned with the medical strategic plan. The position also informs and shapes medical strategy by collecting actionable insights to support product development and commercialization.

Responsibilities include serving as a primary contact for medical and scientific inquiries; developing relationships with external experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals; delivering scientific education and training; gathering field insights; maintaining compliant and accurate records; mentoring colleagues; communicating safety information; supporting clinical development activities; attending scientific and medical meetings; collaborating across ViiV; and completing administrative and CRM responsibilities. The role requires domestic travel by car and plane, estimated at 40–60%.

Requirements

• Advanced degree: MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP, or PA.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in HIV.
• Stakeholder management experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel 40–60% by car and plane domestically.

Responsibilities

• Build scientific expertise and serve as a primary point of contact for medical and scientific inquiries in HIV treatment and prevention.
• Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with external experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals, and maintain strategic plans for scientific engagement and collaboration.
• Discuss emerging data, clinical trials, patient-journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline, disease state and products; capture adverse events and medical insights across the product lifecycle.
• Gather and relay field insights to inform product development, clinical trial design, and market strategies, and provide feedback on ViiV products and services.
• Develop and deliver scientific presentations and training for healthcare professionals and internal teams; support educational materials and colleague training.
• Ensure activities comply with regulatory guidelines and company policies, and maintain accurate records of interactions and outcomes.
• Model ViiV’s culture and values, mentor and coach less experienced MSLs, and lead scientific or strategic projects.
• Disseminate safety information to healthcare professionals as directed by Medical Affairs or Research and Development teams.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, investigators, professional societies, advocacy groups, and formulary decision-makers.
• Support clinical development activities, including GSK and Investigator Sponsored Studies, and work with Clinical Teams to improve site performance and provide insights into GSK research interests.
• Attend national and regional scientific and medical meetings to gather the medical voice of the customer on relevant data and disease states.
• Collaborate compliantly across matrix stakeholders with a One-ViiV mindset.
• Complete responsibilities and training, including Veeva CRM, email, expense reports, and MyLearning, in a timely manner; profile core customers and keep CRM information current.
