About The Position

The Global Brand Marketing Director will lead broad-based marketing strategy across Starwood Hotels’ global portfolio of 1 Hotels, Treehouse Hotels, and Baccarat Hotels, with responsibility for brand storytelling, integrated campaigns, openings, field connectivity, programming, and partnerships. This role is intended to operate at a strategic level, shaping how each brand show up in the market and ensuring property-level efforts ladder up to clear, differentiated brand positioning and broader business objectives. This person will help define the marketing narrative and long-term marketing roadmap for the brands, guide major brand moments and hotel openings, and build stronger integration between corporate marketing and the field. The role requires a leader who can balance brand-building with business priorities, influence and align senior stakeholders, elevate the team out of reactive execution, and ensure Starwood’s brands remain culturally relevant and commercially effective across global markets.

Requirements

  • 8 to 12+ years of experience in marketing, brand, or related roles, preferably within hospitality, lifestyle, luxury, consumer, or multi-unit businesses.
  • Experience leading integrated marketing strategy across both brand-level and field or property-level functions and across multiple markets or regions.
  • Strong background in brand storytelling, campaign development, positioning, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience developing long-term marketing plans and translating brand and business objectives into integrated, actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate strategically, prioritize effectively, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to gain alignment across complex stakeholder groups and lead initiatives through ambiguity, change, and competing priorities.
  • Experience managing and developing teams, with a track record of elevating others out of executional work and into higher-value contribution.
  • Strong judgment, communication skills, and comfort managing ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to connect creative, operational, and commercial considerations into a cohesive marketing approach.
  • Ability to lead across multiple brands simultaneously while protecting distinct positioning, audiences, and brand identities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead brand-level marketing strategy across priority brands, ensuring initiatives reflect each brand’s distinct positioning and point of view while supporting long-term brand and business objectives.
  • Develop and guide brand storytelling frameworks that extend beyond property-level promotion and elevate the brands in culture and in the marketplace.
  • Help lead the marketing strategy for integrated global campaigns, hotel openings, and major brand moments, defining positioning, target audiences, narrative, channel approach, go-to-market strategy, and measures of success while guiding cross-functional teams through execution.
  • Lead the field marketing model, setting strategic priorities and guiding property teams in activating global strategies with local relevance, rather than managing day-to-day coordination.
  • Set the strategic direction for hotel programming and partnerships, identifying opportunities that best support brand equity, guest relevance, and business goals.
  • Evaluate and prioritize brand-building opportunities across partnerships, programming, openings, and campaigns, balancing near-term hotel needs with long-term brand value.
  • Partner cross-functionally with brand, creative, communications, social, digital, commercial, F&B marketing, and property teams to ensure aligned messaging and execution across the guest journey.
  • Translate business priorities into marketing plans that are both brand-building and operationally realistic.
  • Gain alignment and buy-in from senior stakeholders on key marketing priorities and initiatives, building the support and cross-functional sponsorship required to move complex projects forward.
  • Lead change management for new marketing strategies, processes, and initiatives, partnering with marketing leaders from planning through implementation to drive understanding, adoption, and consistent execution.
  • Lead and develop direct reports, including a manager-level role responsible for reporting, field communication, campaign coordination, and execution support.
  • Establish decision-making frameworks and ways of working that reduce reactive, property-by-property execution and create greater strategic focus across the team.
  • Represent marketing in senior-level discussions related to brand evolution, market opportunities, and key business initiatives.
  • Monitor market dynamics, competitive activity, consumer behavior, emerging marketing trends, and cultural opportunities to inform strategy and keep the brands at the forefront.
  • Apply strong critical thinking and judgment to complex initiatives, identifying challenges, opportunities, dependencies, and trade-offs and developing clear paths forward.
  • Take ownership of high-priority, complex, and evolving initiatives, bringing structure and strategic direction to projects that require cross-functional leadership and problem-solving.
