About The Position

Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our operations team: Geotechnical Engineer in Training (12 Month Contract) Alamos Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a long-term track record of creating value for all stakeholders through solid financial performance, low-cost production growth, and a company-wide commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. We currently operate three mines – two in Canada and one in Mexico – and we have a strong portfolio of development stage projects, including the Lynn Lake Project and Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion in Canada, and Puerto Del Aire Project in Mexico. Alamos also has an early-stage exploration project in Canada, the Qiqavik Gold Project. Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines.  It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario.  The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, the Geotechnical EIT I will be responsible for implementation and management of the Ground Control Management Plan at the Young–Davidson Mine.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Mine or Geological Engineering.
  • Affiliation (or eligibility to register) with a Professional Engineering Organization.
  • Strong safety conscious with a positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Deswik and Vulcan, or other mine software is an asset.
  • Accreditation in U/G Common Core modules is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Mine inspections in an underground setting
  • Secondary ground support design (cable bolts)
  • Instrumentation installation and maintenance
