General Utility Worker
About The Position
The General Utility Worker performs routine, repetitive manual work to maintain highways, grounds, buildings, and equipment on the UNC-CH campus. The position involves a variety of physical labor tasks that require some specialized knowledge and experience and may require strenuous physical exertion. The role requires working knowledge of machine operations, safety practices, snow removal operations, and horticultural and turf management practices, along with clear oral communication of task instructions. A valid North Carolina Driver’s License is required, or the ability to obtain one before the hire date. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of machine operations.
- Working knowledge of safety practices.
- Working knowledge of snow removal operations.
- Working knowledge of horticultural and turf management practices.
- Good oral communication skills to deliver and receive task instructions clearly.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one before the hire date.
- Ability to perform physical labor that may require strenuous exertion.

Benefits
- A $3,497 sign-on bonus paid in two installments: $1,748.50 within 30 days of the hire date and $1,748.50 12 months after the hire date.
