The General Manager is responsible for everything that happens during their shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls, customer relations, staffing, paperwork, food management, scheduling, store cleanliness, marketing, and profitability. The manager sets an example for the crew and follows all company policies and procedures, while expecting the same from team members. The position requires strong judgment, math, multitasking, communication, and customer-service skills. The role also involves general store-team duties such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. Store work may involve exposure to varying temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot equipment and surfaces, sharp edges, moving mechanical parts, cramped spaces, and adverse weather during outside tasks. Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting for paperwork, lifting and carrying supplies, pushing or pulling trays, climbing, bending, crouching, reaching, and—in duties described for delivery personnel—driving and carrying orders to customers.
