The field-based General Maintenance Technician supports maintenance at assigned Dollar General stores within a geographic area. The role responds in person to maintenance tickets, assesses preventative maintenance needs, and works with store leaders to identify and address entry-level repairs. The technician also educates store leaders on maintenance best practices to help extend the life of coolers, freezers, and other equipment. The technician uses the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document and communicate ticket activity and interact with business partners. The role works with operational leaders at various levels, including Store Managers, District Managers, Regional Directors, and Division Vice Presidents; occasional interaction with Senior Vice Presidents, Executive Vice Presidents, and external vendors or maintenance service providers may occur. The position supports customer service and brand growth by carrying out Dollar General maintenance standards. The position is deployed to designated stores through an internal ticketing system to resolve entry-level maintenance concerns, perform preventative maintenance, and assess safety equipment as needed. It requires travel to locations reporting maintenance issues, troubleshooting, collecting and verifying asset information, advising store leadership on operational solutions, supporting entry-level repairs, and providing light exterior grounds support. Tickets must be documented and resolved within designated time frames. The technician may provide root-cause training and, while on site, complete checklists to identify preventative maintenance or small maintenance tasks and educate store leadership on operational processes. Occasional after-hours work may be required depending on repair urgency.
