About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business serving office buildings, banks, schools, corporate headquarters, industrial and medical facilities, and department stores. The General Cleaner performs varied cleaning activities in assigned facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, and orderly, along with other tasks related to the assignment. Work includes high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces; cleaning bathrooms and replenishing dispensers; emptying trash; dust mopping or vacuuming floors; sanitizing floors; and cleaning hallways, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and public common areas. Depending on the assignment, duties may also include grounds care and food court cleaning, including washing trays with a tray power washer. The cleaner inspects completed work, reports broken or out-of-order items, and may perform additional floor-care tasks as directed. The role requires courteous customer service, quiet and professional conduct, maintaining a neat appearance, and remaining in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, either 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. or 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices and the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals according to MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including cleaning-chemical instructions and warning labels.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including prolonged walking, standing, or sitting; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, and handling equipment and supplies.
Ability to use sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, ledges, and window areas.
Sanitize and spot-clean surfaces below shoulder height, and remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs, walls, and windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and sanitize floors using the proper cleaning solution.
Clean and inspect outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, benches, vending machines, lower window ledges, public glass, and parking lots.
Dust mop and spot mop hallways and maintain public common areas, including glass, planters, and window areas.
Clean food court tables and trash cans, spot-clean spills, return chairs to their places, wash and stack trays, and police outdoor eating areas.
Inspect completed work, check furniture placement, and correct problems as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Provide courteous customer service, report broken or out-of-order items, work quietly, and remain in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
Report to the supervisor if the assigned work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.
