About The Position
Blue Chip Pros is seeking a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at the assigned facility, keeping it clean, sanitary, and orderly, and to perform other related tasks. Duties include high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning; bathroom cleaning and restocking dispensers; emptying trash; dust mopping and vacuuming; floor sanitizing; and cleaning exterior grounds, public common areas, and the food court. The cleaner is expected to inspect completed work, maintain courteous customer relations, work quietly, remain in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, and report broken or out-of-order items and unfinished assignments to a supervisor. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic janitorial work, methods, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic safe work practices and use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals according to MSDS sheets.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including cleaning-chemical warning labels.
- Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
- Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; equipment operation; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering.
- Sight sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and maintain safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination for equipment and tool use.
- Overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Responsibilities
- High-dust surfaces and clean dusters according to the described procedures.
- Sanitize and spot-clean surfaces, remove fingerprints and smudges, and spot-clean windows.
- Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets; check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
- Empty trash cans, wipe them if they contain liquid, and replace liners.
- Dust-mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and dispose of collected dust.
- Clean exterior areas by emptying ash urns and trash cans; policing sidewalks, flower beds, curbs, and parking lots; spot-cleaning spills; removing gum; wiping benches, vending machines, and window ledges; and cleaning public-area glass as needed.
- Dust-mop and spot-mop public hallways; clean glass and planters; and check window areas, corners, and edges for cobwebs and debris.
- Clean and sanitize food-court tables, return chairs to their places, spot-clean spills, empty trash cans, collect dirty trays, wash them using a tray power washer, and stack clean trays for reuse.
- Sanitize floors, working from the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
- Inspect completed rooms and correct cleaning or furniture-placement issues as needed.
- Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and daily high dusting.
- Knock before entering an occupied room; respond helpfully and courteously to customer questions or refer customers to someone who can assist.
- Report broken or out-of-order items and unfinished assignments to the supervisor.
- Maintain a neat personal appearance, work quietly, and stay in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
- Perform other assigned duties, which may include floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
