About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform a variety of cleaning activities at the assigned Home Depot facility, keeping it clean, sanitary, and orderly. The work includes cleaning rooms, restrooms, floors, hallways, public common areas, the food court, and exterior grounds. The cleaner also performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors. The role requires following cleaning procedures and chemical safety instructions, using janitorial equipment, and maintaining a courteous, quiet, and professional manner around customers. Employees should inspect completed work, report broken or out-of-order items, and notify a supervisor if assigned work is not finished by the end of the shift.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals in accordance with MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed for assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; reaching overhead; and handling and grasping equipment and tools.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize and spot-clean surfaces below shoulder height; remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls; spot-clean windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, soap dispensers, and paper dispensers, and refill dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when needed, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and clean the floor using the specified procedure.
Clean exterior grounds by emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, picking up litter, spot-cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, cleaning lower window ledges and public-area glass, and checking parking lots for trash.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping hallways, cleaning glass, maintaining planters, and checking for cobwebs and debris.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, spot-clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, collect dirty trays, wash trays with the tray power washer, stack clean trays, and police outside eating areas.
Perform floor sanitizing using the proper germicidal solution, including under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Provide courteous customer service, answer questions or refer customers appropriately, and work quietly to minimize noise.
Report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor and report incomplete assignments at the end of the shift.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance and remain in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
Perform other assigned duties, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto scrubbing and buffing.
