About The Position
Blue Chip Pros is hiring a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at an assigned facility and keep it clean, sanitary, and orderly. The work includes high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning; bathroom cleaning; trash removal; floor dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing; grounds care; and cleaning public common areas and the food court. The cleaner follows specified cleaning methods and uses appropriate solutions and equipment, checks completed work, and corrects issues as needed. The role also involves courteous customer service, reporting broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor, working quietly and remaining in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, and maintaining a neat personal appearance. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or Account Manager, including floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic safe work practices and the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals according to MSDS sheets.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
- Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform the assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; operating equipment; lifting and carrying 1–30 pounds; pushing and pulling with 5–35 pounds of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, and handling and grasping tools and equipment.
- Adequate sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.
Responsibilities
- High-dust surfaces and clean treated dusters according to established procedures.
- Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows.
- Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
- Empty trash cans, replace liners, and wipe cans when necessary.
- Dust mop or vacuum rooms, including under furniture, and clean up collected dust.
- Clean and maintain outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curbs, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and public-area glass.
- Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters; and check for cobwebs and debris in window areas.
- Clean, sanitize, and reset food-court tables and chairs; remove trash; clean trays using a tray power washer; and police outdoor eating areas.
- Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution.
- Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
- Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
- Provide courteous customer service, answer or direct customer questions, and report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor.
- Work quietly, stay in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, maintain a neat personal appearance, and report unfinished assignments to a supervisor.
- Perform other assigned duties, which may include floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
