About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling with force, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Adequate sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination for cleaning tasks and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height such as lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans, using a germicidal solution.
Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets (inside and out), and dispensers, using germicidal solutions.
Empty and clean trash cans, replacing liners as needed.
Dust mop or vacuum floors using the "S" stroke method, ensuring all areas under furniture and in restrooms are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and performing high dusting of window areas.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, and clean trays using a tray power washer.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Perform daily tasks such as hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, and high dusting.
Engage in customer relations and service by being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting issues to the supervisor, working quietly, and maintaining a neat personal appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, and auto scrubbing and buffing of floors.
