About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
  • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height such as lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges.
  • Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
  • Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls.
  • Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
  • Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilet seats, the outside and inside of toilet bowls, and refill soap and paper dispensers.
  • Empty trash cans, replacing liners and cleaning cans if necessary.
  • Dust mop or vacuum floors, ensuring all areas under furniture and in restrooms are cleaned.
  • Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot.
  • Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
  • Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables, spot cleaning spills, emptying and cleaning trash cans, and cleaning dirty trays.
  • Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, ensuring all areas under furniture and behind doors are mopped.
  • Visually inspect rooms after cleaning to ensure furniture placement is correct and to prevent problems or complaints.
  • Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
  • Engage in customer relations and service by being friendly, courteous, answering questions, and reporting any broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
  • Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, and auto scrubbing and buffing of floors.
