About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs force, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.
Requires sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height such as lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans. Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls. Spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, and surrounding areas using germicidal solution. Clean and refill soap and paper dispensers.
Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if liquid is present, and replace with clean liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms, using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways. Clean glass, planters, and perform high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables. Spot clean spills, empty trash cans, and clean accumulated dirty trays.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room towards the exit.
Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement for corrections.
Hall – lobby – stairs – water fountains – furniture – wall spotting and high dusting is done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Interact with customers in a friendly, cheerful, and courteous manner. Answer questions or refer to appropriate personnel. Report any broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor. Work quietly and maintain a clean personal appearance. Report to supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrub and buffing of floors).
